Meet Adriana Cârnu, a scholar of belonging and communities, who has dedicated her career to making a lasting impact in the field of community development and education since 2004.
In 2010, driven by a profound intention to transform the social architecture of rural communities in the South East of Romania, she co-founded Sigma Association, a dynamic platform for social change. The platform became the driving force behind numerous pioneering projects and activities centered around community development innovation, social inclusion policies, and education. Sigma Association successfully secured over 2.5 million euros in funding, leading to remarkable growth and development in the local region.
Coach, trainer, facilitator, and therapist, her expertise extends far beyond the realms of project management and grant writing. Adriana’s passion for non-formal education and youth development has steered impactful volunteering projects and facilitated the growth of aspiring youth workers. Her focus on research and piloting in the field of non-formal education has enabled her to craft innovative and effective learning experiences for diverse communities.
At the core of Adriana’s approach lies a deeply ingrained belief that the well-being of a community should be self-determined. She embraces the role of an agent of change, skillfully holding space for the design and implementation of deep systemic transformations. Her community mantra revolves around process designing, where she expertly coaches, hosts, and facilitates group transformation with a keen eye for fostering holistic growth and empowerment.
